Unearthed
Independent magazine project · Concept, creative direction, styling & photography
Unearthed came from an instinct, to slow things down and bring honesty back into the picture. Fashion has a habit of polishing everything until it stops feeling human. We celebrate beauty, confidence, and perfection, and ignore the emotions that actually shape us. In the work for this issue, especially the story “The Emotions We Don’t Wear,” I wanted to confront that silence, the grief, the vulnerability, the in-between states we all carry but don’t show. The photos, the styling concepts, the narrative, and the DEI themes all point in the same direction. Creating space for the real, not the curated version of it.
This magazine isn’t about trends. It’s not about selling a look or fitting into a niche. It’s about connection, about seeing yourself in someone else’s story, or at least feeling less alone in your own. That’s why the shoots progress from conflict to vulnerability to connection. It’s why the tone is slow, intentional, and honest. It’s a reminder that emotion belongs here, too.
